Carolina Week Testimonial: Not only does Carolina Week provide you with the experience and skills necessary to land your first job and succeed in broadcast journalism,as many of my friends and former classmates have, it also provides you with so much more. During my brief time at CW, I grew to understand the importance of teamwork, responsibility, timeliness, professionalism, etc in an environment that differs greatly from the typical college classroom. This knowledge and experience to me was priceless because, even though I'm not pursuing journalism at the moment, all of the lessons I learned through Carolina Week help me in my everyday life and will continue to serve me well in my future endeavors.
One of my larger regrets at Carolina was not getting involved in CW earlier. The people (students, staff, and professors) create a great, close-knit environment where you work everyday with friends to make your final product as good as it can possibly be. I would encourage anyone who's interested in a career in broadcast journalism or simply anyone who thinks they would enjoy the creative/technical elements of working on a news show to get involved in Carolina Week as early as possible during your college career. In the end, regardless of what you decide to do, you'll benefit from the experience and look back fondly on it. |
