Christie KoriakinDate of Graduation: May, 2007 Carolina Week Testimonial: Carolina Week was less like school and more like the real world than anything else I did in college. The incentives for doing well were real--my peers, my professors, and my mom would see my work on live television. The program taught be to be self motivated and to take pride in my work. The more I put in, the more I got out, and this is a lesson that has carried over into every aspect of my life after college. Besides these very general lessons, I also learned specific and technical details about broadcast and production. These have served as a springboard for my jobs after college which have included working as an intern at NPR, a production specialist, at an action sports production company called Wink Inc., and a research assitant for a boutique documentary company called fleisherfilm. The skills that I learned in Carolina Week, while specific to television media, have transferred to other aspects of broadcast journalism. I was able to take what I learned and turn it into a job as associate producers for a documentary episode on National Geographic's Megastructures. |
