Genna Suggs HarrisDate of graduation: May, 2007 Carolina Week Testimonial: My passion for broadcast journalism sparked from the admiration I have for my grandfather, Addison Penfield, who worked for WPTF radio in Raleigh, WSB radio in Atlanta and Channel 12 TV in Winston-Salem. I began my broadcast journalism studies at UNC by first volunteering with Carolina Connection where I produced, wrote and edited weekly stories about community issues. I then joined the Carolina Week team where I found myself enjoying my time behind the camera as well as in front. It's my goal to become an outdoor adventure journalist, putting together television or radio pieces about my travels out west. My job as the student coordinator for Moondance Adventures, a wilderness-based teen adventure program based out of Asheville, is the perfect segue to making my goal a reality, as I will be in the Wind River Range of Wyoming this summer working with teenagers. |
