Nora WarrenDate of graduation: May, 2005 Carolina Week Testimonial: Carolina Week boosted my confidence. Granted, I certainly wasn’t a wallflower before I started volunteering with CW. Yet, the first few days I spent freshman year amid the buzz of eager and experienced Carolina Week devotees seemed, if I’m being honest, a bit overwhelming. I remember watching the producers, directors, anchors, reporters and technical crew busily darting about, and I doubted that I'd ever find my place among such a motivated and energetic group. I wondered how I'd find stories, how I'd learn to light, frame and shoot video, how I (being technically challenged) would fare with editing and voice recording, and how I'd develop as a writer and storyteller. I had never so much as touched a camera. The Carolina Week crew led the way. Concepts that were foreign became second nature, and with every story came an opportunity to practice the old or try something different. At several crossroads since graduation my memories of Carroll Hall have reminded me not to shy away from taking a new direction. Although I’m not in “the business” I cherish the time I spent with CW. |
