Carolina Week Testimonial: After five years of working in the professional world, I decided to return to school to pursue a graduate degree in a field that I had always been interested in and intrigued by – Journalism and Mass Communication, with a concentration in Electronic Media. I will never forget the energy I felt as I walked into the Carolina Week newsroom my first week of classes in August 2004. I vividly remember students hard at work researching, enterprising stories, setting up interviews, writing scripts and shooting video all in preparation for the evening newscast. I couldn’t wait to be a part of the excitement! I jumped right in, learning as much as I could about television news/video production. I sought guidance from some of the most knowledgeable experts in the business, many of whom I was so lucky to have as mentors and professors. I developed long lasting friendships with many of my fellow C-dubs. The memories we created on and off the air will stay with me forever. As I look back, I realize I had the opportunity to learn and work alongside so many talented individuals, many of whom are now making their way to the top as reporters, anchors, directors, producers, weathercasters and sportscasters. Carolina Week was an invaluable learning experience! It not only thoroughly prepares you for a career in television broadcasting, video production and journalism, but it also prepares you for the real world. Adopt Dr. T’s mantra of “deadlines and details” and you’ll go far in whatever you decide to do!
