Carolina Week Testimonial: After five years of working in the professional world, I decided to go back to school to pursue a graduate degree in something I had always wanted to do – television broadcasting. I’ll never forget walking into the Carolina Week newsroom that first week of classes in August 2004. I still remember the students hard at work researching, enterprising stories, setting up interviews, writing scripts, grabbing cameras, running out the door, and preparing for the newscast. I couldn’t wait to be a part of the excitement! I jumped right in, learning as much as I could about television news/production. I sought guidance from some of the most knowledgeable professors and staff in this business. Not only did I consider them mentors, I considered them friends. I developed some of the most wonderful, long lasting friendships with my fellow C-dubs. The memories we made on and off the air will stay with me forever. I look back and realize I had the opportunity to learn and work alongside so many talented individuals, many of whom are now working in top markets as reporters, anchors, directors, producers, weathercasters and sportscasters. I’m confident many of them are going to continue to do great things and go on to become some of the best in this business. For me, Carolina Week was an invaluable learning experience! It not only thoroughly prepares you for a career in television broadcasting or production/journalism it prepares you for the real world. Adopt Dr. T’s mantra of “deadlines and details” and you’ll go far in whatever you decide to do!
