Shelley BasingerDate of graduation: May, 2006 Carolina Week Testimonial: I wish I had a good "I walked into Kindergarten carrying a stick mic" story to tell. I kind of stumbled across the Electronic Communication sequence as a junior. Not only did I become attached to the art of storytelling through sound, but I found a news medium that I feel is often times misunderstood and misrepresented. Carolina Week teaches solid journalism. It teaches you how to get the story out there on time, minus the fluff, with what your viewer needs to know. It teaches you that mistakes happen, but mistakes can be avoided. And most importantly, it teaches you how to be a team player. That lesson is probably what's making my adjustment to my first job easier. My advice to aspiring tv journalists: just remember, you're a person first, a reporter second! C-Dub for life. |
