Zeke SmithDate of graduation: May 2005 Carolina Week Testimonial: One of my greatest regrets in college was that I didn't get involved in Carolina Week sooner. When I finally jumped in during the middle of my junior year, it was one of the most exciting and fulfilling things I experienced in college. Finally, here was an environment where professors treated you as equals and invited you to dive in head first, actually learning by doing instead of reading something in a textbook. Having worked in radio, television, and print, I can safely say that my experience at Carolina Week helped prepare me for all three. I learned to cope with deadlines, scrapped stories, and high expectations and still turn out a great story week after week. More than reading a teleprompter or writing a script, CW helps you learn what it's like to be accountable to a team of people who are excited about the product they're putting out, and everyone's enthusiasm makes you want to do a better job, and that's good for everybody. I might not work in TV anymore, but I still wouldn't trade in my time at CW. I'll say it again: get involved sooner rather than later. You won't regret it. |
