Bio: Professor Simpson has taught at Trinity University and SMU in Texas. An independent producer-director in Atlanta for five years, he now combines teaching media production classes during the fall and spring semesters with various independent production assignments during the summer. Simpson is the production designer and manager for Carolina Week. He has received several International Television Association's Reel of Excellence Awards. He has been a media judge and electronic media director and chairman for the Annual National Headliner Awards, and media judge for the Texas Film Commission, the N.C. Association of Broadcasters, International Television Association, and the City of Raleigh Arts Commission. Simpson is a member of the School's Hearst Contest Committee. He has been a media consultant and adviser for many nonprofit organizations as well. His interests are in corporate communication and video and film production.
