College Republicans Sign Up New Voters

College Republicans gathered in the pit Monday to encourage students to register to vote.

Between classes, potential voters had the chance to make a difference by registering.

Students from throughout the area made their mark within their state by signing up.

Organizers enticed students with free giveaways such as key-chains and pens.

CR Chairman Tyson Grinstead says registration is the first step in working toward increased voter turnout.

“Well it gets people involved in the civic process and if people register in the year, they’re more likely to vote or want to vote, so it keeps it fresh on their mind.”

Within the first half hour, 10 students had already registered to vote.
