If you're a junior or senior and still living on campus, you're definitely in the minority.
That's why the UNC Buildings and Grounds Committee approved plans to continue work on a proposed $65 million apartment-style housing project on South Campus. The goal is to encourage students to stay on campus as upperclassmen, rather than lease off-campus apartments.
UNC junior Jennifer Harris will graduate before the new apartments are completed in fall 2006. Harris said new campus apartments would have been perfect.
"I'm very upset that they won't be done by the time I graduate, because that would be a really good option for me. And it would still be a part of housing, so I'm sure you could just sign up for it like anything else," Harris said.
If the plan goes through, workers will build three apartment neighborhoods near the Craige Parking Deck, with two others south of Hinton James Residence Hall.
