County Supports Compressed Natural Gas
by R.J. Weber
Orange County commissioners are working
on a program that will help alleviate the
rising costs of gas. At their meeting Tuesday
night, the commissioners approved a plan
that will provide funding
for compressed natural gas facilities. These
alternative fuel stations will help decrease
travel costs for state employees within Orange
County.
David Stancil, the county’s environment
and resource conservation director, says
these facilities will provide a high benefit
at a low cost.
“Right now, the new gas is about 15
cents per gallon cheaper than regular gasoline,” he
said. “It’s even more than that
for diesel, so it has a lot of advantages.”
If the program is successful, Stancil says
he also hopes the public will also use the
compressed natural gas facility. |
