| Men’s
Tennis Wins Two at Home
by Dylan Field
The 26th-ranked men's tennis team must have
been feeling a little homesick after losing
two straight on the road. The Tar Heels looked
to stop the slide with two matches at home
Saturday. Carolina invited winless Campbell
University over for the early match.
The Heels thanked the Camels for stopping by, and then quickly showed them
the door, winning 6-1. The Heels swept all three doubles matches and five of
the six singles matches. Sixty-sixth-ranked Raian Luchici’s struggles continued. He was the only
Tar Heel to lose to the Camels.
The Heels dominance at home continued in the night cap against James Madison
University. The Heels didn't need any help pounding the Dukes.
Carolina liked bringing out the brooms in the earlier match, so much so that
they went ahead and swept all three doubles matches and all six singles matches
in straight sets from the Dukes. The Heels usurped the Dukes 7-0.
“We learned a lot from last week's competition,” said coach Sam Paul. “You
know what--we've got to get better at and get better at quickly. We did some
things a little bit better today.”
The Heels welcome the “Fake Carolina,” that is the South Carolina
Gamecocks to Cone-Kenfield Tennis Stadium Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
