Microsoft Takes on Google
by Kristen Robinson

There’s a new search engine site on board, which means that Google and Yahoo will have some stiff competition in the future. The world's largest software maker — Microsoft — has unveiled its new search engine, which is called MSN Search.

With this new search engine, users will be able to search the web for news, images, music, and encyclopedia articles. MSN Search will compile its results from a database index of more than 5 billion web documents and pages.

Microsoft has recently revamped its MSN.com web portal to make its search engine more prominent. Yusuf Mehdi, vice president of Microsoft, says they will try to promote the feature using more than the traditional online strategy.

“Microsoft will market its search engine through a marketing campaign directed at online users, as well as television,” Mehdi said.
