Prove Popular Valentine’s
Day Destinations
by Elizabeth Crumpler
Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest
days of the year for many Chapel Hill restaurants.
Franklin Street restaurants prove to be popular
destinations on this romantic holiday,
and booking a reservation can be tough.
Restaurants such as Top of the Hill, Crook’s
Corner and Vespa were booked as far in advance
as two weeks, proving to be the destination
of choice for couples hoping for a romantic
evening. Other Franklin Street restaurants
such as 411 West Italian Café save
room for walk-ins, but couples have to arrive
early to avoid a long wait.
Matt Bittner, manager at Top of the Hill,
says there are still procrastinators without
reservations.
“Well, the smart people called maybe
late December 2004, and it’s been a
steady rush from there,” said Bittner. “Even
this afternoon and this morning we’re
still getting phone calls.”
For those without a reservation, be prepared for a wait.
