Evidence Shows Coffee is Good for You
by Vicky Fernández
Many people depend on coffee for short-term
energy boosts, but drinking a cup of coffee
everyday
might have some long-term benefits too.
A recent study shows those who drink coffee
every day are 50 percent less likely to get
liver cancer than non-coffee drinkers.
A research team based in Tokyo analyzed a
10-year study of more than 9,000 people. The team's findings mean good news for the coffee drinkers on campus.
“I’d probably continue drinking anyway, because, at this point, I kind
of need it to keep going,” said one student, “but if it improves
my liver too, that’s just better.”
Researchers were not able to compare the effect of regular and decaffeinated
coffee because decaf is rarely consumed in Japan.
