Your Mark, Get Set, Dance!

Volunteers for the Dance Marathon are looking
for last minute donations and volunteers
in the Pit. The year-long fundraiser will
culminate this weekend as hundreds of dancers
spend 24 hours on their feet.
Marathon participants raise funds for the
N. C. Children’s
Hospital. But the amount of money they’ve
raised this year is still a secret.
“It’s going to be a big surprise, even
for the overall committee,” Catherine
McLaurin, the Dance Marathon publicity chairwoman,
said. “We will be just as surprised
on Saturday night when they announce the
total.”
Dance Marathon began in 1999, and last year’s
dancers raised more than $170,000 for the
kids. Students can get involved by watching
dancers this weekend at Fetzer Gymnasium.
