Reads to Third-Graders
by Joe Mott
Chancellor James Moeser might be looking
at some Rashkis Elementary school students
as potential Tar Heels.
As part of his “Carolina Connects” tour on Wednesday, Moeser read
to about 80 third-graders who are in the middle of their annual read-a-thon.
Students listened and asked questions about the story and about the chancellor's
job, which he explained to be similar to that of their principal.
After the reading, Moeser took a tour of the campus. He said the visit shows
the University's connection to schools across the state.
“Part of the whole purpose of Carolina Connections and connecting to Chapel
Hill as a part of that is to show that this university cares about what's going
on in local communities,” said Moeser. “That we have a direct relationship
through the school of education with this elementary school.”
Moeser’s next visit will be to Asheboro.
