Road Name Change to Generate Paperwork
by Sean Maroney and Vicky Fernandez

When Airport Road becomes Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in a couple of months, it could mean some extra paperwork for residents. More than 800 residents and business owners will have to make changes to their records, stationary and business cards before the name of the street changes on May 8.

Some students, such as those who live in the Mill Creek apartment complex, will also have to update their records before heading out on Spring Break. Town Information Officer Catherine Lazorko said the town is trying to lessen the impact.

“We realize that this is not going to be the easiest thing for people to go about-- changing their checkbooks and filling out other change of address forms,” said Lazorko. “That's why we're taking every step we can to try to make it as painless as possible.”

Chapel Hill will offer a public information meeting at the Town Hall on March 22 to answer any questions about the name change.
