Carolina "Cans" Duke in Food Drive

Duke President Richard Brodhead will be sporting a lighter shade of blue this week because of another UNC-Chapel Hill win.

Last week UNC-CH and Duke went head-to-head off the basketball court in the “Beat Hunger” campaign. Students, alumni, and fans worked together in a race to see which school could raise the most donations for the food bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

By Friday afternoon, blue bins at the Campus Y overflowed with canned and boxed goods, which were later loaded into a truck and tallied.

Carolina came out on top with 66,000 pounds of goods. Duke collected 8,000 pounds.
