State Considers Toll for I-95
by Lindsey Ellerson

North Carolina might become the 35th state to implement toll booths on some of its highways. Drivers would have to pay a $10 toll when they enter North Carolina via I-95.

In 2003, Gov. Mike Easley rejected the idea, saying it wasn’t fair to put new tolls on old roads. In addition, the newly created North Carolina Turnpike Authority is proposing to build toll booths on new roads. One suggestion is to build a toll road through Research Triangle Park. It would run parallel to I-40.
