Eco-Friendly Housing on Rosemary Street
By Sarah Wiles

Plans are moving ahead for a new eco-friendly housing complex on Rosemary Street. The project will take up much of the block between North Graham Street and North Merritt Mill Road, near Carrboro. The residential units will include solar energy panels and rainwater-collection systems.

Builders will tear down an apartment building and a neighboring restaurant to make way for the new housing.

Leaders in the community hope the $30 million project will continue the revitalization of Rosemary Street. The developer, Tim Toben, hopes construction will begin in 2007.
