Tuition Increase on the Way
By Crystal Calloway

Carolina ranks as the best value among public institutions. With an increase in tuition, however, the University might not be able to hold on to that title in the future.

The Board of Trustees met late Wednesday afternoon to discuss a major set of tuition increases.

Student Body President Seth Dearmin wrote an editorial in The Daily Tar Heel, saying the increases are necessary to help Carolina compete with peer institutions.

As an ex-officio member of the board, Dearmin plans to vote in favor of a $200 increase in undergraduate in-state tuition and a $900 increase for out-of-state students.
