Book Chosen for Summer Reading

Incoming Carolina students already have their first homework assignment.

The Carolina Summer Reading Program has chosen "The Namesake" by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri.

The book is about globalization as seen through the eyes of a family of immigrants from India and their experiences in the United States.

This book was chosen from more than 200 suggestions, and marks the eighth year of the program.
