Runway Hopefuls Vie for Spots on TV Show
By Crystal Calloway
The next Tyra Banks could be right here in
North Carolina. Hundreds of girls traveled to
Fayetteville this weekend to try out for the
seventh season of the reality show “America's
Next Top Model.”
When the casting directors of UPN's hit show
went looking for talent, they weren't looking
for just another pretty face.
"It's just exciting to see that there's
those girls with that vibrancy and dreams," said
Top Model casting agent Rhonda Keith.
Top Model contestant Vanity McCray traveled
six hours from Atlanta to pursue her dream.
"The reason I wanted to be on the show
was because a lot of people underestimated me,
and I feel like this was my opportunity to show
people that I am going to make it," McCray
said.
But she'll have to get through some stiff competition
first. After several hours of waiting in line,
getting applications verified and photos taken,
the judges really wanted to
get to know the girls. After all, Top Model
is a reality show.
"They want nice girls of course, but they
want people that can react with each other," said
Keith.
McCray says she'll have no problem interacting
with her housemates, but she might have some
issues posing with the unusual guests model
Tyra Banks brings on the show.
"Snakes. I don't know if I could do snakes,” McCray
said. “Snakes and spiders."
