Tar Heels to Face Terps Thursday
By Loreal Andrews

The men’s basketball team travels to College Park Thursday for a hoops showdown against ACC rival, the Maryland Terrapins. The Tar Heels look to improve to 4-3 in conference play before returning to Chapel Hill to face the Clemson this Saturday.

But before UNC can add another strike to the win column, they will have to be more consistent. Starting with Thursday’s tipoff, the inexperienced Heels will need to cut out the careless turnovers and work hard to seal off opponents on the defensive boards. If they can effectively establish a defensive presence early on, they will have a shot at converting easy baskets on fast breaks.

Lately, freshman forward Danny Green has been integral to the Carolina defense, making big plays at essential moments in previous contests. If the crew can buckle down on defense and make the easy plays, and if the veterans maintain their composure, coach Roy Williams will be able to breathe much easier. And we will, too.
