Potential Fines Do Not Deter Some
By Nadia Mohammed

Whether it is early or late, someone is jaywalking on the Carolina campus. Students ignore walk signs and risk their safety just to get to the other side of the road. The warning signs are in spots across campus, and the Public Safety Department will start giving out fines to anyone officers catch jaywalking.

Yet some students are not worried about the threat of jaywalking tickets. They think that there are far too many people who jaywalk for everyone to get caught. But some students are making a conscious effort to cross at the crosswalk to avoid getting fined.
