Student Congress Tries to Reduce Textbook Turnover

Student Congress passed a resolution last week that encourages professors to use the same edition of a textbook for at least three years before changing to a new edition.

The idea came from a sophomore member of Student Congress, Caroline Spencer.

”It’s a resolution … and its just to open doors on both ends, faculty and students to try to get something happening,” Spencer said.

Spencer says this current resolution is another way of fighting the cost of textbooks.

Prices have increased almost 40 percent during the last five years according to the National Association of College Bookstores.
