Senior Candidate Hopes Juniors Will 'Love' Him

Senior Class Presidential candidate Doug Weiss is hoping to get juniors to “Feel the Love” and vote for him Tuesday. His platform plays on the fact that student elections fall on the same day as Valentine’s Day.

Weiss’ platform includes discounts for seniors in more than 10 businesses on Franklin Street.

The Black Student Movement and the Carolina Hispanic Association are among the organizations that endorsed Weiss and running-mate Juelle McDonald.

Weiss said if he’s voted in, he’ll make changes in the senior marshals selection process, such as working closely with campus organization leaders.

“We feel like they’d be able to tell us who’d be great marshals much better than we’d be able to tell just from an application,” Weiss said. “I mean, they know these people better than we’d ever be able to find out in just a couple of weeks.”
