DPS Hands Out Tickets to Jaywalkers
By Philip Jones

The Department of Public Safety kicked off the last phase of its campaign to keep pedestrians safe Monday.

DPS officers stationed outside the Student Union issued tickets to pedestrians who crossed South Road without using a crosswalk or who crossed the street against the walk signal.

But the officers only patrolled for 40 minutes.

How much will jaywalking cost you? The fine is only $10, but $125 in court costs pushes the total to $135.
