College Students Rarely Vote
By Sarah Wiles
College students are known for not having turning
up at the polls.
Eighteen to 24-year-olds represent one of the
lowest voter turnout groups in national elections.
Our own campus elections on Tuesday did little
to change this trend among students. According
to the Associated Press 42 percent of all eligible
18 to 24 year-olds voted in the 2004 presidential
election. Here at UNC only 6,000 members of
the student body cast ballots.
