Internet Providers Try To Rid Inboxes of Spam
By Pamela Brown

Spam e-mails have bombarded million of inboxes the past few years, but now AOL and Yahoo are asking companies to pay at least a quarter of a cent per e-mail as a way to eliminate spam.

This new strategy will create a preferred class of e-mail that will separate the legitimate mail from the spam mail.

If a company doesn’t pay the price, however, its e-mails could automatically be filtered out.

AOL-user Jean Manning says she’ll switch to another e-mail service if the plan goes through.

The Senate Commerce Committee will review a net-neutrality bill because the plan might threaten the openness of the Internet.
