Performers Give Campus 'All That Jazz!'

UNC’s Department of Music held its third annual jazz festival over the weekend. The festival wrapped up with a concert by the UNC jazz band in Memorial Hall Saturday night.

Professional jazz musicians Don Braden, Sean Jones and Vincent Gardner joined the band on stage to perform a couple pieces. The students enjoyed playing with the professionals in such a great venue, despite missing the Duke-UNC basketball game that night.

“Yeah, missing the Duke game is tough,” said Michael Hall, a UNC jazz drummer. “But it’s definitely worth it playing at Memorial Hall -- it’s my first time. But I’m still getting stats on the game, so it’s cool.”

The band also played around town at restaurants such as Tallula’s and Top of the Hill throughout the week.
