Local Botanical Garden Grows Rare Plants

It’s spring again, and that means it’s time to turn over a new leaf.

This carrot is just one of many endangered species preserved by the Seeds for Success program at the N.C. Botanical Garden.

Part of a 20-country effort, the Millenium Seedbank Project aims to protect and house 10 percent of the world's flora by 2010.

Some rare species are available for viewing, but garden officials suggest waiting two or three weeks for warmer weather and fuller blooms.
