N.C.’s First Lady Leads Campaign Against Teen Drinking

The Coalition for Alcohol and Drug Free Teenagers is working to get the message out about the dangers of underage drinking.

First Lady Mary Easley kicked off a North Carolina initiative to increase community awareness and prevention on the topic.

A recent survey conducted in Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools found almost 47 percent of high school students drank alcohol at least once in the past month, with 25 percent admitting to binge drinking.

Easley says community involvement is key.
