The Women’s Basketball Team Heads to Final Four
By Karen Kolman

The Tar Heels started Tuesday night’s game on fire and didn’t stop until the Tennessee Volunteers were burned out.

The Tar Heel defense toppled the Volunteers, forcing difficult shots and 12 Tennessee turnovers in the first half alone. The Heels executed on the offensive end at will, holding a 12-point lead at halftime.

Tennessee started the second half with one goal: to get Candace Parker, a Tennessee guard, the ball as much as possible. But, the star of the Carolina team, Ivory Latta, would not allow it. Latta also made big plays, including a huge three-pointer late in the second half.

In the end, it came down to Latta on the line, and with more than a few clutch free throws, she put the nails in Tennessee’s coffin.

The Heels won by 12 and will head to Boston for the Final Four.
