Lottery Poses Danger to Gambling Addicts
Despite the financial boost, not everyone thinks
the lottery is a winner – some are afraid
it might contribute to gambling problems.
The lottery's official gambling addiction helpline
is up and running.
Lawmakers required it as part of the lottery
bill.
State officials say 535 people have called
the helpline, but only 72 calls have been addiction-related.
The helpline number is printed on the back
of every scratch-off ticket, but you could have
a hard time finding it in all the fine print.
You can call the helpline at (877) 718-5543.
