Underwater Easter Egg Hunting in Hillsborough
By Maggie Faust

More than 100 local kids arrived at the Triangle Sportsplex in Hillsborough for an underwater Easter egg hunt Saturday afternoon.

Kids lined up as lifeguards littered both the baby pool and the big pool with plastic Easter eggs.

Hunting these eggs cost about $3 per child, but many parents said it was worth it for their children.

"They liked it really well because they like swimming, and it was something different. They were excited,” said Sarah Mizelle of Chapel Hill.

Her two daughters, Cecilia and Madelaine, won candy and toys during the hunt.

To make the hunt more of a challenge, some of the eggs floated while others sunk to the bottom of the pool.

The children took their eggs here to the prize table to exchange them for candy, toys and Sportsplex passes.

This is the second year that the Sportsplex held the event, and workers at the event were satisfied with the turnout.

"The first year, no one was aware of it, and we only had 110 to 120 people come up. This year it jumped to 170 or 180,” said Kirk Harris, the marketing director at Triangle Sportsplex.

Judging by the happy faces, kids will be lined up again next Easter.
