Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Nation's Best
By Michael Crowe

The Virginia Cavaliers got five goals from Garrett Billings and used a 5-0 run to open the game to hand Carolina a 21-13 loss.

The Tar Heels got two goals each from Ryan Blair and Rob Driscoll in the defeat.

The first quarter proved to be the difference maker Saturday as Virginia jumped out to a 5-0 lead.

Ryan Blair put the Heels on the board with a diving effort in the first quarter.

Eleven different Tar Heels scored in the game as Carolina’s 13 offensive goals was the second highest output this season.

Carolina scored 14 goals against Ohio State in the season-opener.

Attackman Bart Wagner said the slow start did the Tar Heels in.

“Right at the start we let them get too big of a gap,” Wagner said. “We played better getting to groundballs and hustled more after that, but it was just too much in the beginning to come back.”
