Women’s Lacrosse Team Battled
it Out for a Win
By Karen Kolman
The No. 6-ranked women’s lacrosse team
battled No. 14 Vanderbilt Friday night in their
first home game after a five-game road trip.
Back-and-forth scoring from both Carolina and
Vanderbilt marked the first half of play, but
Carolina took control going into halftime with
a 6-4 lead.
The Commodores must have had Wheaties for a
snack because Vanderbilt scored within the first
two minutes of the second half to tie the game.
The Tar Heels wouldn’t stand for it and
picked up the momentum midway through the second
half to win 13-9.
Christina Juras, a Carolina midfielder, said
her team’s energy and cohesiveness helped
secure the win.
“We knew we had to pick it up a little
bit,” Juras said. “We had to play
harder, but I think that once we get rolling
we get into a flow, our offensive players feel
good. We feel like we're connecting, and it
just keeps going.”
