Officials Push for Beer Sales at Finley
By Jessica Pruette

Golfers at Finley Golf Course might soon be dropping their bags and grabbing a beer at the end of a round. UNC officials want to add beer to the amenities at the University’s golf course.

They plan to propose selling beer at the athletic venue during the upcoming legislative session. At most courses – even those run by public universities – golfers can enjoy an alcoholic drink as they play a round with friends or business partners.

Johnny Cake, director of golf at Finley, says he thinks potential beer sales could make the gold course more competitive in the local market.

If the proposal passes, both students and members of the Chapel Hill community could soon enjoy a cold beer after a hot round of golf.
