Police Punishing Bench-Squatters

You can take a break on a Franklin Street bench, but just don't make it your bed for the night.

Police cited two people last week for sleeping on downtown benches.

Those who violate the town ordinance could face a $50 fine or up to one week in jail.

During the past two years police have written 27 citations for the offense.
