Carolina Rallies Late to Top Virginia Tech
By Michael Crowe

Carolina broke open a tied ballgame by scoring five runs in the bottom of the eighth and beat Virginia Tech 9-4 Friday night.

Carolina got the offense going in the third inning with a pair of RBI singles from Tim Federowicz and Bryan Steed.

The Hokies rallied in the sixth.

Carolina’s starting pitcher, Andrew Miller, walked in a run and Tech scored three unearned runs to tie the game at four.

The Heels broke that tie in the eighth.

Josh Horton singled up the middle and gave Carolina the lead for good.

The Heels put up a five spot in the eighth and took game one, 9-4.
