Men’s Lacrosse Beats Fairfield
By Brandon Underwood

The Carolina Men’s Lacrosse team went into Saturday’s game against Fairfield having lost their previous nine contests. The team that showed up to play on senior day was not that team.

After falling into an early two-goal hole, the Tar Heels offense went to work. Drew Habeck tied the game at 2-2 after a breakaway and some pretty passing. Habeck was in the starting line-up for the first time in his career.

The Heels jumped out to a 6-3 lead, thanks to some hard-hitting defense and outstanding goaltending by Trey Sheain.

Drew Habeck scored seven goals in the first half, a Carolina record for most goals scored in one half. Habeck had zero goals for his career before this match.

Habeck couldn’t have been more pleased for his team to get a win on senior day and to set this record in front of his family.

He said the win rewarded all the hard work the team had been putting in.

“We’ve been working hard all season long, and we just haven’t gotten a victory,” Habeck said. “To come out here and have all that work pay off -- the sprints, every Monday is basically a running day for us, we don’t even touch the balls. Just to finally come out and get a good win feels great.”
