Memorial hall was the place to be on Saturday.
People handed over their tickets to see the
funniest man in America.
Janice Henry said she came to the show with
her sister, “just to laugh, because that’s
what Bill Cosby is known for most.”
The house filled up quickly as fans streamed
in the building. The countdown to the show’s
start gave people time to reminisce on some
of their favorite Cosby moments, and many people
even did Cosby impersonations.
Jennie Hendrix, a 2005 Carolina graduate, said
she used to watch the show when she was little.
“I remember him and Rudy and that was
always so funny to me because it was kind of
like me and my Dad,” Hendrix said.
About 1,400 people came to see Cosby’s
performance. Most of the audience members left
happy, including the honoree, retired journalism
Professor Chuck Stone.
“I’m just so honored that he would
talk about our friendship so fondly,” Stone
said.
