Claiming Natural Disaster
By Caitlin Clinard
It’s been two weeks since the remnants
of tropical storm Alberto swept through the
triangle. Some people are still dealing with
the mess it left behind.
The storm waters that put parts of Crabtree
Mall under water did a lot of damage. Scores
of cars were practically floating in the
mall parking lot. Victims tell
us that mall security told them the mall would take full responsibility for
all the damage.
However, two weeks later, the mall’s insurance company has decided the
flooding was a result of a natural disaster. It won’t be compensating
people for their losses. One car owner told us mall officials won’t even
disclose the name of their insurance company for any of the victims to call
and complain.
