Principal Training Camp
By Ashley Perryman

At UNC's Educational Leadership Center newly hired principals have been taking workshops to focus on some of the stickier issues they'll face, from placing students entering from homebound education to hiring new faculty.

The program is in its first year, but organizers say the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Program consultant Alisa McLean says the program is intended to give these administrators help as they enter a new arena.

“We want them to formulate plans and formulate processes so that when these things arise, they have a starting point,” said McLean.

The new principals will meet for a second round of workshops in October.
