Spares
By Jessica Floyd
Tires are being stolen from vehicles on campus.
You don't need to worry about the tires under
your car. But, if you have an SUV with a spare
tire on the back, then beware.
Zippered cases are the easiest to open, making
the lug-nut the only difference between having
a tire and being tireless. But you can
protect your vehicle by storing your tire in
the trunk or putting it in the backseat.
You should also consider investing in a hard
case that cost only $100. That’s a small
price to pay compared to the $700 price tag
of purchasing a new tire and anchor mechanism.
The bottom line is tires on the back
of SUVs are tempting. So, protect your spare.
