Pain Relief in Moderation
By Caitlin Clinard

For common aches and pains, many people turn to Tylenol. However, you should take all pain relievers in moderation.

A recent study found that Tylenol can be bad for the liver. Researchers are trying to determine whether the damage is caused by long-term, high-dose use. The study suggested that heavy drinkers take no more than two grams daily.

Sutton’s pharmacist, John Woodward, said you shouldn’t take Tylenol if you’re going to be drinking. He said that the study, which gave participants a maximum dose of Tylenol for two weeks, shows that too much of a good thing can be bad.

“I think that when anyone takes large doses of any drug such as a popular drug like Tylenol that they’re going to develop problems over the long haul,” he said.

Woodward still swears by Tylenol and says it’s safe as long as you’re taking it in the recommended doses.
