What’s In Your Food?
By Caitlin Clinard

There’s something in the food that’s making 61% of Americans overweight and it’s called sugar.

Do you know how much sugar’s in your food? Most American’s don't, even though it’s usually right on the box with the other nutrition facts. Sugar equals calories and calories turn into pounds.

There’s no need to worry about the good sugar that comes from fruit. What you do need to worry about is the bad sugar that comes from sweetened products like coca-cola. College student, Andrew Marvin, is an avid coca-cola drinker. He says he would like to start looking at the sugar content in the food he eats but doesn’t know if that will happen.

“I don’t know why I don’t look at it…I buy what I want to eat and I buy what I want to drink and I eat it and drink it,” he said.

And unless Americans are blessed with good metabolisms like Marvin, they’ll continue to struggle with weight. But just by taking that extra step and cutting back on sugar, Americans can lose those extra pounds.
