by Brittny McGraw
The Carolina men's soccer team began its quest
for back-to-back NCAA titles Friday night, defeating
Winthrop 6-0 Friday night at Fetzer Field.
Carolina's #12 Ryan Kneipper went off in the first
half, scoring on a header to put the Heels up
2-0.
That was Kneipper's second goal of the game, and
there would be many more to come.
After a third goal at the start of te second half,
Kneipper tapped one in for his fourth goal and
a 4-0 Carolina lead.
Kneipper finished with five goals, tying a U-N-C
single game record.
The Heels won, 6-0, and one-man-show Ryan Kneipper
knew from the start he would have a spectacular
performance.
"I
wanted to focus on trying to get a goal today.
Sometimes you just feel it as a forward and I
just felt everytime I touched the ball it was
going to go into the net, it was just my frame
of mind," he said.
